Hi, I’m Michael Robinson

I’m a Wellington-based ceramic artist who makes beautiful pieces of art that can be enjoyed every day.

My porcelain tableware is thrown on the wheel on different angles which creates these unusual shapes that wobble, dip, lean or swirl in an curiously graceful organic manner. Each one is off balance - but also perfectly balanced. I like the playfulness, the personality and individuality that each piece brings. Porcelain is my favourite clay as it can be thrown incredibly thin, and adds a precious luminosity to each piece.

My studio is called ‘The Ceramistry’ . This is where my ceramic forms constantly evolve and come to life.
